About State Fire

How long has State Fire been in business?

State Fire was founded in 1989, giving us over 35 years of experience in
commercial and industrial fire protection. Throughout that time, we’ve remained
a family-owned company — built on the same values of reliability,
professionalism, and responsive service that we started with.

Where is State Fire headquartered, and what areas do you serve?

Our headquarters is located at 2550 S W Temple St, South Salt Lake, UT 84115.
From there, we operate across North America, with service locations spanning more
than 20 U.S. states — including Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Texas, Nevada, Arizona,
Montana, Wyoming, Alaska, Florida, and more. Visit statefire.com/locations for
the full coverage map and local office information.

Is State Fire certified and licensed to perform fire protection work?

Yes. State Fire employs certified fire protection technicians licensed to
operate in each jurisdiction we serve. Our technicians hold certifications and
meet all applicable state and local licensing requirements for fire alarm systems,
sprinkler systems, suppression systems, and related life safety services. We
maintain NFPA compliance standards across all work and hold the credentials
required to service complex industrial and commercial fire protection systems.

What makes State Fire different from other fire protection companies?

As a family-owned company with over 35 years in the field, State Fire combines
the accountability of a local contractor with the capabilities of a national
provider. A few things that set us apart:

– 24/7 emergency response — we’re reachable when it matters most
– Deep expertise in high-risk and special hazards environments (mining,
oil & gas, data centers)
– Full-service coverage from design and installation to inspection and repair
– National accounts capability for multi-site businesses
– Industry-leading Special Hazards department with worldwide expertise

Services

Do you handle both installation and ongoing maintenance?

Yes, State Fire is a full-lifecycle fire protection partner. We handle
everything from initial system design and installation through routine
inspections, testing, repair, and ongoing compliance maintenance. You don’t
need separate contractors for each phase.

Can State Fire support businesses with multiple locations across different states?

Absolutely. Our National Accounts program is built for organizations with
facilities in multiple states. We provide centralized account management and
consistent service standards across all your locations, simplifying compliance
tracking and vendor coordination. Learn more at statefire.com/national-accounts.

Do you serve specialized or high-risk industries like mining and oil & gas?

Yes — high-risk and industrial environments are a core specialty at State Fire.
We have industry-recognized expertise in mining (both surface and underground),
oil & gas operations, power generation, manufacturing, data centers, and other
facilities with elevated fire risk and complex suppression requirements. See
statefire.com/mining-industry-leadership for more on our mining expertise.

What special hazards suppression systems do you install?

Our Special Hazards department offers the full range of advanced suppression
technologies for environments where standard water-based systems aren’t
appropriate:

– Clean agent (FM-200, Novec 1230) — ideal for data centers and electronics
– Inert gas systems — oxygen reduction for sensitive environments
– CO2 suppression — for industrial machinery and electrical equipment
– Foam systems — for flammable liquid hazards
– Dry chemical — for high-risk industrial applications
– Water mist — an efficient alternative to traditional sprinklers

We also provide advanced detection & control systems. Learn more at
statefire.com/special-hazards.

Inspections & Compliance

How often do fire protection systems need to be inspected?

Inspection frequency varies by system type and is governed by NFPA standards
and local codes. General guidelines include:

Fire extinguishers: Annual inspection; internal maintenance every 6 years;
hydrostatic testing every 12 years
Fire sprinkler systems: Quarterly, semi-annual, and annual testing per NFPA 25
Fire alarm systems: Annual inspection and testing per NFPA 72
Kitchen suppression systems: Semi-annual inspections per NFPA 96
Special hazards systems: Annual inspection; agent quantity checks may be
more frequent

State Fire can set up a scheduled maintenance program to keep you on track
automatically.

What is NFPA compliance and why does it matter for my business?

NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) publishes the codes and standards
that govern fire safety in the United States. Compliance with standards like
NFPA 10, 13, 25, 72, and 96 is required by most local fire marshals, insurance
carriers, and building codes.

Non-compliance can result in failed inspections, fines, insurance coverage
issues, and increased liability in the event of a fire. Staying NFPA-compliant
is both a legal requirement and a critical risk management measure.

What happens if my fire protection system fails an inspection?

If a deficiency is identified during inspection, our technicians will document
it in detail in your inspection report. Minor issues can often be corrected on
the spot. For repairs requiring parts or more extensive work, we’ll scope the
fix and schedule a return visit promptly.

We’ll also help you understand your obligation to notify the local authority
having jurisdiction (AHJ) when required by code. Our goal is to resolve
deficiencies quickly so your facility stays compliant and protected.

Do you provide inspection reports, and can I access them online?

Yes. State Fire provides detailed inspection reports after every service visit.
Reports are accessible through our building reporting partner at
buildingreports.com/skins/sf523, giving you a digital record for compliance
documentation, insurance requirements, and fire marshal requests. You can also
access your service history and account information through the State Fire
Customer Portal at statefire.com/service-portal.

Emergency Services

Does State Fire offer 24/7 emergency service?

Yes. State Fire provides 24/7 emergency fire protection service — including
nights, weekends, and holidays. If your system experiences a failure, alarm
malfunction, or any condition requiring immediate attention, call us at
1-800-523-4300 any time of day.

How quickly can State Fire respond to an emergency at my facility?

Response times depend on your location and the nature of the issue. Because
we maintain local teams across more than 20 states, most customers can expect a
prompt on-site response. Remote locations are also served — as one of our
customers at a mine 190 miles from our Salt Lake City office noted, we’re
“always quick to respond to emergencies.”

For the fastest service, call 1-800-523-4300 and describe the situation so we
can dispatch appropriately.

What should I do if my fire alarm is malfunctioning or going off unexpectedly?

First — if there is any possibility of an actual fire, evacuate the building
and call 911 immediately. Never assume an alarm is a false alarm until the cause
is confirmed.

If you’ve confirmed there is no fire and the system is malfunctioning, contact
State Fire at 1-800-523-4300. We can help you troubleshoot remotely or dispatch
a technician to diagnose and repair the issue. Repeated nuisance alarms should
always be investigated and resolved — they can desensitize occupants and create
real safety risks.
